Windmill Trail

Level: Moderate

Time: One Hour (out and back)

Distance: 1.4 miles (out and back)

Details: The Windmill Trail will take you to one of our favorite spots at Wildcat Bluff – the Windmill! Once you reach the Windmill, you’ll have a great view of the rocks of The Bluff and will be close to West Amarillo Creek. Read up on the history of both while you’re out there!

Wild Kitten Loop

Level: Easy

Time: 15-20 minutes with small children

Distance: 0.5 miles

Details:  Meant for the “wildest” of kiddos who love an outdoor adventure, Wild Kitten Loop is perfect for someone looking for a quick hike. This loop only takes 15-20 minutes to complete and will take you through portions of the Bluff Trails and the Gnarly Mesquite trail, crossing over the Windmill Trail in between (with a couple of benches in the middle if you need a break).

Tascosa Trail

Level: Moderate

Time: 45 minutes (Out & Back)

Distance: 2.1 Miles (Out & Back)

Details:  Tascosa Trail will give you a great view of the grasslands, with plenty of wildflowers (and grasshoppers) to see in the summer! At 1.09 miles, it takes 30 minutes to reach the end, where it intercepts with a dirt road that can connect you to any of the other trails you’d like to take back to HQ.

Upper Bluff Trail

If you’re a fan of feeling like you’re on top of the world, our Upper Bluff Trail is a good place to start! Taking only about 25 minutes to reach the top of The Bluff, this trail gives you a great view of West Amarillo Creek and the rest of The Bluff (including the Windmill)! With access to the Gregg Marcy Overlook too, this is a great pick if you want to sit and think for a while. It takes .75 miles to reach The Bluff, and from here you can head to the Windmill, which is only 10 minutes away and will make this a 1.05-mile hike.

Lower Bluff Trail

The Lower Bluff Trail will take you around The Bluff so you can get a great view from below the rock formations, and it takes about 35 minutes to complete. This is about a 1.24-mile trail, and the endpoint is the southwest side of The Bluff. From there, you can take the Windmill Trail or the Gnarly Mesquite Trail back to HQ.
