A Texas Panhandle tradition – a family-friendly festival that’s back from the 90s!

Discover! 5.0: Saturday, September 5th, 2026 | 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm | Don Harrington Discovery Center

Originally a staple of the Amarillo community from 1989 to 2004, the Discover! festival is making a return in John War d Memorial Park for the Don Harrington Discovery Center’s 50th anniversary celebration in partnership with the City of Amarillo, the Amarillo Symphony, and High Plains Public Radio. Enjoy all-day festivities for the family and a live outdoor concert from the Amarillo Symphony as they play American classics in honor of the 250th anniversary of our country.

Discover! 5.0 will include:

• Food truck alley

  • Local food favorites for lunch, dinner, or snacks throughout the festival such as:
    • Family First Frybread
    • Travelin’ Tom’s Coffee
    • Yolos Amarillo
    • Let It Snow
    • Donut NV
    • Cheesecake HSTL

• Kids Zone

  • $5 per person for access to bounce houses, face painting, games, activities, and DHDC, including the exhibit Dinosaurs Around the World before it leaves on September 7th

• Community group performances & demonstrations including:

  • Music with The Amarillo Suzuki Program
  • Dancing with Al Son Del Folklore
  • Touch-a-truck with the Amarillo Fire Deptartment
  • The Randall County Sheriff’s Department
  • The Amarillo Museum of Art

• Live music from Insufficient Funds

  • Playing for over 20 years, the band Insufficient Funds will close out the daytime festivities before the Amarillo Symphony’s evening performance

• Live music from the Amarillo Symphony

  • In honor of the original event, the Amarillo Symphony will be the final performance of the evening, beginning around 7:30 pm behind the Don Harrington Discovery Center

• A drone show finale

  • Choreographed with the final pieces played by the Amarillo Symphony, Discover! 5.0 will end with a drone show finale

• VIP seating

  • Access to an open bar, a catered dinner by Teddy Jack’s Armadillo Grill, priority parking, and front-row seats to the Amarillo Symphony’s outdoor performance and finale
