For campers ages 3 years old through 5th grade
For campers 4 and under, half-day options from 9 AM to 12 PM and 1 PM to 4 PM are available. Must be 5 years of age for full-day camps.
Looking for Summer Camps in Amarillo full of science, hands-on learning, and fun? The Discovery Center offers a fun and safe space for kids to learn all summer long.
Join us for one of nine themed camp weeks during DHDC’s Year of the Dinos at one of the best STEM summer camps in Amarillo. Each week features hands-on experiments, creative crafts, and time exploring our state-of-the-art dinosaur exhibits as we celebrate our 50th anniversary. All camps are led by passionate Amarillo educators and use TEKS-aligned curriculum, giving families a trusted, engaging summer camp experience in Amarillo.
NOTE: Lunch is not provided! Please pack your child a cold lunch if they are registered for full-day camps.
Weather dependent, campers entering grades 1-5 will explore the outdoors at Wildcat Bluff one day each week.

2026 Themes
Crack the case! Campers will learn how to explore forensic science and problem-solving techniques as they step into the role of junior investigators. Activities focus on logic, observation, evidence analysis, and drawing conclusions from clues.
Design, build, test, and smash! Campers will learn how to construct simple structures using trial and error to strengthen their problem-solving skills. Activities focus on engineering challenges, testing durability, and discovering what designs stand the test of time.
To the moon and back! Campers will learn how humans explore beyond Earth through rocket engines, spacecraft, and lunar missions. Activities focus on hands-on space science, engineering concepts, and uncovering the mysteries of the Moon, with real-world examples inspired by the upcoming Artemis II Moon launch.
Small insects, big impact! Campers will learn what it means to be an entomologist as they investigate invertebrates and discover how insects survive, thrive, and support ecosystems. Activities focus on hands-on exploration, observation, and understanding the important roles insects play in our world.
Dinosaurs ruled the deep! Campers will learn about marine dinosaurs and prehistoric sea reptiles that lived, hunted, and adapted in ancient oceans. Activities focus on fossil evidence, marine food chains, and hands-on exploration of dinosaur-era sea life.
Scales, tails, and feathers—oh my! Campers will learn about vertebrate animals, from reptiles to birds, and how their physical traits help them move, adapt, and survive. Activities focus on animal characteristics, habitats, and hands-on exploration of movement, behavior, and survival strategies.
Jurassic takeover! Campers will learn about fossils, paleontologists, and the different prehistoric eras. Activities focus on hands-on paleontology, excavation, and learning how scientists use fossils to uncover clues about life in the past.
Step into the digital world! Campers will learn early coding and robotics skills through sequencing, patterns, and logical thinking. Activities focus on problem-solving, following step-by-step instructions, and understanding how technology and robots use logical systems.
Adventure awaits! Campers will learn basic survival skills and explore how humans interact with and adapt to the natural environment. Activities focus on observation, decision-making, and hands-on outdoor exploration that builds confidence and curiosity.
